Paid Audiology Externship

Advance Your Audiology Career in the Heartland — Paid Externship in Oklahoma with Full Benefits and Hands-On Experience!

This twelve-month fellowship offers prospective candidates a well-rounded structured clinical externship with a breadth and depth of real-world experience. The program will consist of the following rotations: Observation, Audiograms, hearing aid evaluations, fittings, and repairs, and specialty rotations with cochlear implants, BAHA mapping, Pediatrics/Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR), vestibular testing (VNG), and tinnitus audiologists.

Our audiology department includes Au.D. level staff with certifications from the American Board of Audiology (ABA) and/or the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA). We also have a neurotologist on staff contributing to our variety of complex cases.

A Hands-On Approach to Your Experience

As an extern, you’ll be given an extensive understanding of evidence-based audiology practices in a fast-paced clinical setting in preparation for a future position. In addition, you’ll be given patient, extern, and clinic projects in rotations including:

• VNG, Air Calorics, ECoG, VEMP, ABR, ASSR
• Hearing aids, Cochlear implants, BAHA, and Osia
• Electrophysiology (sedated and non-sedated ABR’s)
• Opportunity to shadow in the OR
• Exposure to complex hearing cases due to our neurotologist and ENT staff

Work Culture

We pride ourselves on a collaborative and friendly work environment. Audiologists and physicians regularly consult with each other. Community events such as ice cream trucks, carnivals, and potlucks foster a welcoming atmosphere. Many employees have long tenures, with some serving over 37 years.

Patient Load and Population

• Approximately 50 to 60 patients per day across three booths
• Roughly 50% pediatric and 50% adult patients
• Real ear verification used for hearing aids
• One hour allocated for cochlear implants and balance evaluations

Compensation & Benefits

• Paid Externship: $20/hour (equivalent to approximately $41,000/year)
• Health Coverage: Includes medical, dental, and vision insurance
• Time Off: 2 weeks of paid time off (accrued) and 2 weeks of paid sick leave
