AuD Externship

The University of Washington Medical Center – Montlake Audiology Clinic is offering a full time AuD externship beginning June 2027 and ending June 2028!

As an extern with us, you’ll gain hands-on experience working with a diverse adult and geriatric patient population in key areas of audiologic care, including:

• diagnostic evaluations
• hearing aids
• cochlear implants
• bone-anchored hearing devices (BAHDs)
• vestibular assessments

You’ll be actively involved in our weekly walk-in device clinics and hearing aid check-ins alongside our audiology assistants, and you’ll assist with calibrating equipment and preparing sound booths at the start of the day. Additional learning opportunities include:

• Collaborating closely with audiologists, physicians, nurses, physician assistants, medical assistants, and audiology assistants
• Observing otologic surgeries
• Participating in manufacturer-led trainings on hearing aids and cochlear implants

We’re looking for motivated externs eager to learn in a dynamic university medical center environment where you will work with multiple preceptors and engage in meaningful interactions with patients and healthcare professionals across specialties. We are also a fun group of people that celebrate birthdays and achievements, hold staff events, and our group has an interest in cooking/baking/food which makes our celebrations even more enjoyable!

Applicants must have successfully completed all required AuD coursework prior to the start of this externship. Externs with reliable transportation may also have the chance to rotate through one of our additional clinic locations for broader exposure. You will be expected to show progress over the course of the externship and receive at least passing grades on evaluations as determined by your graduate program and clinical preceptors.
